The Threat to Gaza’s Babies is not the Jews, but Hamas.

The Threat to Gaza’s Babies is not the Jews, but Hamas.

The latest blood libels by a UN senior official, corresponding with the libels of old, will not change the fact: Jewish and Israeli morality was and remains a sublime model for the entire world!

Hold on tight, here comes the BBC: “In the next 48 hours, Jews will kill 14,000 babies in Gaza.” This isn’t something I said, but the most objective organization in the world – the UN, through its head of humanitarian aid, Tom Fletcher. This man gave an interview to the “Today” program on the anti-Semitic channel that connects all the world’s liars, and used the camera to spread a blood libel in retro style. Once upon a time this would have worked: someone would say it, and trigger another pogrom. And today?

After publishing this lie, a senior Israeli politician issued a statement that Israel “kills babies as a hobby.” Two days pass and two Jews are murdered in an anti-Semitic terror attack in Washington. Needless to say, during this time not a single baby in Gaza died, not even in staged photos as they sometimes tend to do. As a hobby.

What a recycled and worn-out classic: emphasizing Jewish monstrosity through babies’ blood. Even the BBC, which is used to lying in the living room and apologizing in the bathroom, was momentarily taken aback and clarified after the fact that the information has no basis and the UN official made it up. But meanwhile the effect was already achieved, and even in Israel there are already those wondering: Have we lost our morality during wartime?

The answer is no. The IDF is the most moral fighting army in the world, with unprecedented methods: feeding the enemy and supplying electricity and water under fire, precise warnings before bombings, evacuating civilian populations to safe compounds, canceling assassination operations if they endanger uninvolved parties, refraining from using overly powerful weapons, providing medical services in Israel to wounded terrorists, and always entering war as a response and not as an initiative… Show me another army in the world that operates this way! Indeed, if killing Gazans were the goal, within days the IDF would destroy them all, just as Hamas would do to us, God forbid.

Jewish morality learned at a heavy price not to be optimistic about the intentions of the Nazi enemy – he will kill you if he can, with or without an added rape on the side. To rise early and kill those who rise to kill us – this is our morality! One hand extended for peace and the other holding the longest sword in the region – this is our morality!

Those worried can relax: 14,000 Gazan babies will not die in the coming days or at all. Tom Fletcher, for whom a bright future awaits at the UN, lied. But the future awaiting those same babies – how shall we put it, is far more grim. Hamas, which turned them into human shields, is the one stealing their food, educating them to hatred, burying them in ruins and bequeathing them ignorance and despair. These babies will one day be defeated by our babies, according to IDF ethics that are a light unto the nations fighting for their existence.

It’s symbolic to say this precisely at the opening of Shavuot, which marks the receiving of the Torah of Israel. Seven weeks we walked in the desert, a nation of slaves that escaped from bondage, wandering in the desert without direction, without purpose, without a path. And then we received God’s Torah, with our moral values that we embrace and pass down from generation to generation from then until today. And since then, miracle upon miracle brought us to inherit the land, and wonder upon wonder brought this tiny country of ours to be ranked tenth in strength among all the nations of the world! A real superpower!

Last Shabbat, in the synagogue, we finished reading the book of Leviticus with the words “Be strong, be strong, and let us be strengthened.” These words I direct against Tom Fletcher and all the various anti-Semites and delusional morality preachers, who don’t understand what’s happening in our land and what we’re dealing with, righteous warriors who didn’t help us on October 7th and won’t help us in the next pogrom either. To them I say: You will not stop us from creating a secure future for ourselves! As individuals, as communities, and as a people: Be strong, be strong, and let us be strengthened!

Happy Shavuot to everyone!
