Mahjong is an ancient Chinese game, and during this course we will be learning the Western Version of the game. We will play hands from "The MahJong Player's Companion" by Patricia A Thompson and Betty Maloney as well as by the rules from their book "The Game of MahJong Illustrated".
Handouts of the basic rules will be provided, you will learn how to play the game, recognise the tiles, symbols, terms and rules plus more will be explained.

I learned how to play Mahjong at U3A a few years ago and have been playing once a week ever since. I play the Australian version which is different to the American version. The game is challenging and frustrating at times and that’s OK. But it is a beautiful game and I will be honoured to have the opportunity to teach you how to play!
