Mahjong is an ancient Chinese game, and during this course we will be learning the Western Version of the game.
We will play hands from "The Mahjong Player's Companion" by Patricia A Thompson and Betty Maloney as well as by the rules from their book "The Game of Mahjong Illustrated". Handouts of the basic rules will be provided, you will learn how to play the game, recognize the tiles, symbols, terms and rules, plus more will be explained.

I learnt to play Western Mahjong a number of years ago at U3A. I then played privately and went to other clubs. I started teaching Mahjong at U3A in 2019. I also taught privately. I did some tutoring for WIZO in 2022. It is a pleasure to be invited back to WIZO to teach once again.
