22 July 2025 A Special Message from the President of Israel
To our beloved WIZO members and partners. Thank you for choosing to turn Zionism into action through WIZO.
I’m proud to share this moving message from the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, sent from the heart of Jerusalem. It reflects the nation’s recognition of WIZO’s historic impact, our Zionist-feminist legacy, and the mission we continue to lead with pride.
For me, leading World WIZO is a historic privilege. I stand on the shoulders of generations who didn’t just believe in Zionism – they built it. And I don’t walk this path alone.
Thanks to the women who came before me, and to you – WIZO leaders around the world, this movement continues to grow and inspire. As a founding Zionist organization, a signatory of the Jerusalem Program, and a full member of the World Zionist Congress, WIZO stands today as a pillar of leadership for the Jewish people.
In the year 2025 where Antisemitism is surging. Hatred is evolving. And the moral distortion toward Israel and the Jewish people is spreading rapidly, we answer with Zionist actions . Every daycare, every shelter, every hotline, every youth village, and every program we run, is not merely a social service – it is a moral, ethical, and human shield against hatred and confusion.
It is no coincidence that David Ben-Gurion opened the Declaration of Independence with the words: “The State of Israel will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisioned by the prophets of Israel.”
Those very prophets who called on us to be “a light unto the nations” – not through force, but through example. Not with noise, but with light.
Because in the end, it is not strength that wins – it is the values behind it. That is why every F-35 pilot triumphs. Not only because of the technology, but because of the moral compass guiding them. And that is why our society will survive, only if it remains deeply rooted in morality.
And that is WIZO’s mission – to bring the values of Zionism into the heart of Israeli society: to its citizens, its leaders, and the next generation we raise.
And this I promise you: Even 1000 years from now, children in WIZO programs will proudly wave the blue-and-white flag and sing songs of peace and hope.
Thank you – for 105 years in which we have given life to the vision of the prophets of Israel. Bringing to action, day after day, a legacy of justice, equality, and repair with courage, with responsibility, and with a deep belief that our people do not merely have the right to live but a moral role to play in this world.
“I will make you a light unto the nations, that my salvation may reach the ends of the earth.”
(Isaiah 49:6)
With gratitude and respect,
By: Anat Vidor, WIZO President
